People assume new products just... appear. Like one day there's no dragon-shaped dice tray, and the next day there is, and somewhere a warehouse elf made it happen overnight.
There's no elf. There's a messy, opinionated pipeline with a lot of failed prints in it.
Every product on this site went through the same gauntlet: an idea, a rough model, a print that looked wrong, a print that looked less wrong, and eventually a print that earned a spot in the catalog. Here's what that actually looks like.
Step One: Ideas Come From Everywhere, on Purpose
Some designs start with a customer request. Some start with someone on the team getting annoyed that a specific dice tray doesn't exist. Some start with browsing the wider maker community for a shape or mechanism that sparks an idea worth building on properly.
That last part matters, so let's be precise about it: inspiration is not the same thing as copying. We look at what's out there the same way any furniture designer looks at other furniture — for ideas about proportion, mechanism, and function, not for something to trace.
Step Two: The Ugly First Model
The first version of almost anything we make is, frankly, a little embarrassing. Wall thicknesses are wrong. Hinges bind. A lid that looked perfect on screen turns out to need three extra millimeters of clearance that nobody accounted for.
- Rough geometry gets modeled and test-printed fast, on purpose
- Failures get logged, not hidden — a bad print teaches you more than a good one
- Nothing moves forward until it survives actual handling, not just a render
This is the unglamorous middle where most of the real design work happens, and it's also where we decide whether an idea is worth continuing to chase or worth quietly shelving.
Step Three: Originals vs. Building on Ideas
Some of our products are fully original concepts, dreamed up in-house from a blank screen. Others start as a reinterpretation of a shape or category that already existed in the wider maker world, then get pushed through enough iteration that they become something distinctly ours — different proportions, different mechanisms, a different point of view.

Step Four: Print Testing, Repeatedly, Annoyingly
A design isn't done when it prints once. It's done when it prints consistently — different printers, different filament batches, different humidity in the room. We run every candidate through enough repeat prints to catch the failure modes that only show up on attempt number seven.
This is also where material choice gets locked in. A part that flexes needs a different plastic than a part that needs to hold a sharp edge, and getting that wrong at this stage means customers find out the hard way later. We'd rather find out now.
Step Five: The Handmade Part Nobody Automates
Even with the modeling and printing dialed in, there's a layer of judgment that never gets automated: does this actually feel good to hold? Does the lid close with a satisfying click or a cheap rattle? Does it look intentional on a shelf?

Step Six: It Ships, Then the Real Feedback Starts
The pipeline doesn't end at launch. Customer feedback, wear-and-tear reports, and the occasional "this cracked after a month" message all feed straight back into the next revision. Products on this site get quietly improved over time — same name, better version, because we were listening.
The Point of Showing You All This
We're not precious about pulling back the curtain, because the process is the actual product. Anyone can own a 3D printer. Not everyone wants to run every design through a gauntlet of failed prints before it's allowed to ship.
